PHIC Business and Community Manager Chantel Cullen has been named 2022 Employee of the Year at the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
The awards celebrate the best local businesses in Port Hedland across 13 categories, including best community organisation, innovator of the year, best apprentice/trainee of the year and best sustainable practices.
Chantel has lived in Port Hedland for nine years, with husband Mick and their children Torren, 8, and Harlan, 6.
Accepting the award, sponsored by the Port Hedland International Airport, Chantel said it was an “honour to be in front of such an amazing community, a community I love and love working for”.
“It is easy to be a great employee when you have such a fantastic job working for Port Hedland Industries Council and its member companies, to affect good results for industry in Port Hedland and to contribute to great outcomes in the community,” Chantel said.
“Thank you to my friend and mentor (PHIC CEO) Kirsty Danby for nominating me; it was an honour to be recognised by such an incredible person.”
Kirsty said Chantel was “one in a million”.
“She has an incredible work ethic, a capacity to understand complex issues quickly and identify opportunities,”
“She is not just an outstanding employee; she is devoted to Port Hedland and the community.” Kirsty said. “I am extremely proud of Chantel; this award is well deserved.”
