The Foodbank WA team recently visited South Hedland Primary School as part of its nom! nutritional education program.

Mineral Resources has supported Foodbank WA with a commitment of $450,000 over three years to co-fund the program’s delivery in classrooms across WA.

It includes 12 in the Pilbara region near MinRes operations.

nom! complements Foodbank WA’s successful School Breakfast program as a comprehensive, hands-on nutrition education and cooking initiative.

Qualified nutritionists visit schools to host fun and engaging sessions for kids and parents, including cooking classes and eating together.

The evidence-based program helps adults and children make sustainable changes to encourage healthy lifestyles and greater cooking confidence.

The South Hedland Primary School visit was the first in them Pilbara region.

The Foodbank team provided a range of information on healthy food choices, with the students led through a range of nutritious and easy recipes enabling them to make a hot meal, salad, and dessert balls.

The best part of the day was digging into their delicious meals.
