Mineral Resources has been helping WA charities spread joy over the festive season as part of their Christmas Giving program since 2018.
The program provides women’s and children’s refuges and homelessness support services throughout the State with a donation to assist with food vouchers and hampers, and activities including special lunches and family days.
Half of the organisations supported through the program service the communities where MinRes operates across the Pilbara and Goldfields-Yilgarn, with the others serving those seeking support in the Perth metro area.
This year, MinRes is proud to contribute $40,000 to seven organisations across the Pilbara.
Shellene is the Manager of Hedland Women’s Refuge, one of this year’s recipients.
“Support received from MinRes through the festive season adds valuable impact in our local community,” Shellene said. “It eases pressure off families at a time that can already be overwhelming.
“MinRes’ continuous contributions has enabled us to get creative to best respond to needs during the festive season.
“This year the clients and their families that we support have been involved in the whole process from planning and preparing the meals to decorating the hampers and delivery.
“This has presented opportunities of capacity building, strengthening skills and the peer support that naturally develops.
“However, visibly witnessing the pride that the women are glowing with being able to give back is truly amazing.”
MinRes has contributed over $1.5 million across 64 different organisations since the program began.
