The Spoilbank Marina precinct is to include an interactive, adventure playground.
The Town of Port Hedland secured a $4 million Lotterywest grant to design and build the playground which will become a key feature of the marina precinct.
It will include secure perimeter fencing, shade structures, native trees and shrubs and wetpour rubber softfall surfaces in play areas.
Work managed by Pilbara Ports continues, with construction expected to be completed later this year.
The $187 million project is funded by the State Government, Town of Port Hedland and BHP.
Ports Minister David Michael congratulated the Town of Port Hedland for securing the funds.
“I’m pleased that Lotterywest funding can be spent on such an important project that will no doubt lift the entire Spoilbank Marina precinct,” Mr Michael said.
“I look forward to returning to Port Hedland when the project is complete, and residents and visitors can make use of the world-class facilities at the marina.”
