By working together our members champion environmental stewardship and ensure best practice across industry.
PHIC brings substantial expertise in areas involving noise and dust mitigation, environmental issues including marine protection, and planning.
PHIC and its members participate in a range of environmental programs and partners with the regulator and other State Government departments to continuously improve environmental outcomes in Port Hedland.
Members operate under individual licences issued by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation as part of the Environmental Protection Act.
Since the release of the Government’s response to the 2018 Port Hedland Dust Management Taskforce Report, PHIC has worked with the regulator on several key initiatives including:
- Transfer of the Port Hedland Ambient Air Quality monitoring network to DWER.
- Development of the Port Hedland Dust Regulatory Strategy including dust management and reporting methodologies.

Undertaking Cumulative Noise Modelling to assist:
- Land use planning,
- Considerations for developing a regulatory strategy for noise emissions in Port Hedland.
